The internet can help your business attract extra potential customers. If you sell online through your website or advertise your services on your website then getting people to visit it is vital.
Your website needs to look friendly, attractive and professional otherwise you are giving people a bad impression of your business. However more importantly your website should be designed with the search engines in mind. The number of people I talk to that say I have got a fantastic looking website but I never get any work from it is incredible.
So how do you get people to your website?
There are many different ways to do this. Here are jst a few examples:
Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising
PPC advertising is where you sign up for an account with for example Google Adwords and you create an advert that is displayed on Google and 3rd party websites that show Google adverts. Everytime someone clicks through onto your website you pay Google an amount calculated by Google based on what you want to pay per click and some other factors such as click through rates. You can also set a daily budget so that you know how much it is going to cost you.
Search Engine Optimisation or SEO
SEO services are about optimising your website for the organic listings on the search engines. These listings are free but getting to page 1 is very difficult especially for competetive keywords. Optimising your site is just a small part of the SEO work. Inbound links are seen by search engines as a “like” from other websites and this helps your own website to move up the listings or rankings. Getting links to your site with anchor text is even more important. Anchor text is basically a keyword that has a link to your website attached to it.
There are many other ways of getting visitors to your website but these are the ones I have found to work best for me.
